Happy Thirsty Thursday!
Scurry away from the lingering cold with this honey ale.
I strongly believe that Chicago is the American capital of craft beer. While it’s difficult and overwhelming to maneuver the plethora of tasty brews, I’ve consistently favored those from Off Color Brewing. The facility isn’t far from my own abode, so I’m usually able to find their newest beers. I’ve yet to try an Off Color brew that I haven’t liked and have particularly enjoyed their lighter beers, like Apex Predator and Biere de Guard Dog. Though we’re nearing the end of May, there’s still a trace of the Chicago winter lingering in the breeze, so I’m not quite ready for something that light. Instead, I’m savoring Scurry, the first beer I ever tried from Off Color.
Scurry is a sweet honey ale, brewed with molasses and oats. Despite the ingredients, it’s not too rich nor cloyingly sweet, but rather refreshing with a layered complexity and ticklish, frothy mouthfeel. I recommend trying it with a sharp block cheddar or rich, aged gouda like Ewephoria. Cheers!
