Sweet and Salty Makin’ Saucy, Passionate Love
In This Autumnal Honey Apple Grilled Cheese
Buttery German blue cheese and young Asiago melt into pure satin on this sexy, harvest sandwich. Feel free to use any cheeses for this, as long as one is crumbly and the other rubbery. This ensures a proper, gooey consistency
Tip: build everything on one side of the sandwich. The picture below is really lovely and showcases the ingredients like I wanted to, but it makes it more difficult to assemble the sandwich when each slice of bread is so loaded up.
- 1 T butter
- 2 slices whole wheat bread
- 1 oz Asiago Fresco
- 2 T Chiraboga blue cheese
- 1/3 apple, sliced
- 2 T caramelized onion
- 2 t honey
- Coarse black pepper
Preheat your skillet over medium heat and add the butter.
Build this sandwich, starting with the onions. Sprinkle them over one slice of bread and layer the apple over them. Drizzle the honey over the apples.
Layer the Asiago on top of the apples, then the blue cheese. Grind black pepper over the sandwich, then top with the other slice of bread. Slip it onto the skillet for three minutes, flip it and let the other side toast for three minutes. Sinfully delicious.
