Luscious Fig Pairings for Lushes
Is there anything sexier than a fig? We’ve been seduced by their juicy flesh since Eve gave into temptation in Eden. Fresh, dried, or jammed, they pair with almost anything, from salty blues to creamy bries. Just a few scattered onto a simple cheese board brings it all together.
Which is why I got so excited when Vero Kherian of MissCheesemonger.com, one of my favorite food blogs, invited me to a digital party with California figs.
All I had to do was come up with two pairings. How easy is that?
But I’m not one for being easy – I’m one for getting drunk.
So I made two boozy pairings
to get this fig party started.
Old Fashioned-Soaked Mission Figs + Montamoré from Sartori
Grab a bag of Blue Ribbon Orchard Choice or Sun-Maid California Figs and drop them all into a triple batch of warmed Old Fashioned cocktails! The figs plump with the booze and transform into candy-sweet bourbon bombs that taste incredible with a variety of cheeses, from salty blues to aged gouda. I paired them with Montamoré, a slightly, crunchy cheese from Wisconsin. The figs teased out the naturally fruity notes in Montamoré
creating an intoxicating third flavor.
Orchard Choice Fig Port Jam + Truffle Tremor Goat Cheese + Mini Toasts
Fig jam is delicious on its own – but when you add rich port wine it becomes orgasmic. Orchard Choice makes a delectable fig port jam that demands something equally luxurious. Truffle Tremor is a cakey goat cheese studded with black truffles, which adds the perfect hint of earthy funk without overwhelming the natural flavor of the cheese. Spread a bit of each onto a mini toast,
but do it alone, lest you moan.
