“Burrata is mozzarella with soul.”
– House of Cheese by Tenaya Darlington
What’s My Name? Burrata.
What Kind of Cheese Am I? Fresh, I’m a mozzarella made of cow or sometimes buffalo milk and cream.
Where Am I From? Southern Italy, but I’m made in America, too.
Three Words That Describe Me: Luscious, refreshing, and easy-going.
Fun Fact: I’m stuffed with cream and pieces of fresh mozzarella, a sexy way to use up scraps, I must say😉
What Do I Smell Like? Fresh and sweet
What Do I Feel Like? Firm on the outside and soft inside, like a custard-filled donut.
What Do I Taste Like? Cool milk followed by a burst of rich cream
Favorite Foods: Opposites attract me! I love acidic fruits to counter my rich center. Try me with peach slices, aged balsamic vinegar, and fresh basil. Or, lube me up with a drizzle of good olive oil, a sprinkle of sea salt, and some freshly ground pepper. Then dip a crunchy crostini into my creamy center. 🍑🍐🍅
Favorite Beverages: I’m all about refreshing, effervescent drinks. Try me with a dry rosé or Prosecco.
Where to Find Me: BelGioioso Burrata is easy to find at most supermarkets, such as Whole Foods or Mariano’s. Ask your local monger or specialty food’s store about local versions of me, too!
