Gratitude enables happiness. When you realize how lucky you are just to breathe, life seems a little easier.
Take a moment today to remember three things for which you are most grateful.
1. Baby C, my niece who is expected to come into the post-womb world today or tomorrow. I shall train her palate and nurture her oddness.
2. Chandler Bing, my cat.
3. American artisans and cheese makers who are providing our young nation with culture. Pun intended. The miracle of fine foods and coagulated dairy have the power to bring us happiness through our primal love of eating and our connection to animals and nature.
Last Saturday was Pastoral’s 5th Annual Artisan Producer Festival. If you’re not familiar, APF is Chicago’s best free event for foodies. Every year, cheese makers, bread bakers, chocolatiers, distillers, brewers, and more gather at the Chicago French Market to sample out their product and spread some knowledge. It’s a fantastic event that overexcites me into exhaustion. With the recent launch of CheeseSexDeath.com, I was on a mission to spread my curd word to the special people that make cheese magic happen. So, I wiped the drool off my chin, took deep breaths to downplay my erupting enthusiasm, and organized my cantering brain into a catchy, memorable pitch. “CheeseSexDeath.com, you can’t forget it!” Maybe my mind is fogged with zeal, but I think it worked. After all, my goal is to help more people eat cheese.
