Luxurious, like a warm wool robe.
Just get yourself a good bottle of whiskey
and scroll down.
You can plump dried fruit in almost any liquid, so why not whiskey? The figs balance the heat of the whiskey the same way that vermouth or simple syrup
balances it in a cocktail. These sweet bourbon bombs are wonderful with aged cheeses, salty bleus, and creamy bries.
They also make for a delightful garnish in an Old Fashioned cocktail.
Try infusing figs with other cocktails or liquors.

Is there anything sexier than a fig? We’ve been seduced by their juicy flesh since Eve gave into temptation in Eden. Fresh, dried, or jammed, they pair with almost anything, from salty blues to creamy bries. Just a few scattered onto a simple cheese board brings it all together.
Which is why I got so excited when Vero Kherian of MissCheesemonger.com, one of my favorite food blogs, invited me to a digital party with California figs.
All I had to do was come up with two pairings. How easy is that?
But I’m not one for being easy – I’m one for getting drunk.
So I made two boozy pairings
to get this fig party started.
Since I joined the American workforce, I have worked through Labor Day Weekend. This year, I have a big girl job. That means I get “holidays” and “weekends” and have “money.” I took advantage of my three-days of freedom with a short cruise south to the capital of bourbon whiskey, Louisville, Kentucky. It’s a hipster town replete with thriving niche stores, liberal youths, and gentle southern drawls. For three days, my honey Jacob and I ate and drank our way through this little city, biking the roads and shopping their farmers markets. I’m already planning my trip back.
Death twitches my ear. “Live,” he says, “I am coming.”

Treat every moment as an opportunity, lest all of life’s obligations arrest your happiness. A challenge is a chance to prove yourself, a mistake is a time to learn, a meal is a break for enjoyment. It’s all about that carpe diem. Live in the moment and drink in as much pleasure from life as possible, starting with a healthy breakfast.
